Sahaas
Established in 2019, Saahas for Cause is a woman-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit that
educates, empowers, and enables the South Asian immigrant community to improve
their quality of life. Saahas’ core focus is the mental wellbeing of the South Asian
Immigrant community. It aims to reduce negative mental health outcomes like anxiety,
loneliness, isolation and to address the trauma of immigration, domestic violence,
sexual assault, racism and the physical and mental health issues triggered by the
pandemic. Saahas also conducts social research and educates mainstream American
service providers about the needs of South Asians.
Saahas supports South Asian Immigrants in Los Angeles and Orange Counties through
four ongoing pillar activities: Older Adult (classes, visitation, health), Women (wellness,
parenting, domestic violence and divorce support), Youth (social justice, public health)
and Community (mental health outreach, service navigation, COVID-19 prevention,
cultural integration).
